For most commercial and residential applications in the Denver Metro area, we recommend a standard depth of 3 inches. This thickness is the "sweet spot" for suppressing weed growth and protecting plant roots from extreme temperature swings. However, for larger stones like 4-8" Cobble, your depth should match the diameter of the largest rock to ensure full coverage.

It depends on your goal. Mulch is excellent for flower beds as it improves soil quality over time. Rock and Gravel are ideal for low-maintenance xeriscaping in Colorado Springs or Aurora because they don't decompose and provide a clean, modern look.
